Earthworks for Pegasus began in the middle of 2006 and the first residents moved in during September 2008. The town was laid out from bare ground around an artificial lake, next door to Woodend and about 25 km north of the city, taking its name from Pegasus Bay. The 2023 census counted 3,915 people in 1,497 dwellings, up 48.5% in five years. Almost every floor in town is younger than 2006.
Does newer carpet in Pegasus really need professional cleaning?
Yes — and a town this new is the best possible argument for it. Modern carpet is very good at hiding soil, so it can look perfectly acceptable while grit is already working into the base of the pile. Once fibres are cut, that damage does not come back out. Cleaning early is preventative, not cosmetic.
Pegasus has an unusually uniform housing stock: essentially everything is post-2006, with the largest share built between 2010 and 2019. That means the whole town’s carpet is roughly the same age and heading towards the same decision point at the same time. It also means most of it is still worth protecting. Between the lake and the coast, fine sand is a constant background presence, and sand is the single most destructive thing that gets tracked indoors.
Looking after new flooring in Pegasus
For carpet still in good condition, regular carpet cleaning is the whole job. Two methods are available and they suit different situations. Hot water extraction is the deeper of the two and is the right choice when carpet has not been cleaned before or has taken heavy traffic. Low-moisture cleaning uses far less water and returns rooms to use sooner, which suits homes where the whole floor plan is carpeted and you cannot easily shut off half the house.
Alongside that, we handle rug cleaning, mattress cleaning and upholstery. Where a Pegasus home combines carpet with hard flooring, tile and grout cleaning and hard floor care can be done in the same visit. For rentals, end of tenancy cleaning gets a property back to handover standard, and deep cleaning is available where a house has gone a long stretch without attention.

Frequently Asked Questions
Will cleaning shorten the life of newer carpet?
No. Correctly done, cleaning does the opposite. What shortens carpet life is abrasive soil left in the pile, plus over-wetting and residue from poor technique. We match the method and moisture level to the fibre and remove what we put in.
How often should it be done?
It depends on traffic, pets and how much sand comes in from outside rather than on a fixed calendar. A reasonable approach is to have it assessed once, then set an interval based on what we find in that first clean.
Can you do the hard floors too?
Yes. If your home has tile, vinyl or timber alongside carpet, we can clean those on the same job so the whole floor plan is done at once.
